Engineering & Structure
A modular, stackable, prefabricated structural steel frame clad with metal deck, engineered to resist applicable IBC / ASCE 7 loading and self-supported with no support from surrounding buildings or screen walls required.
Structural Design
- Modular, stackable, prefabricated structural steel frame clad with metal deck
- Rated to resist applicable IBC / ASCE 7 loading, wind, seismic, snow, ice, live load
- Self-supported, no support from surrounding buildings or screen walls required
- Modules connect at corners plus internal exhaust flanges
- Approximately 12 exterior bolts per cube
- 100% HSS-free, uses angles and beams to avoid common rust issues associated with certain HSS conditions
- Plenum components are zinc coated
Drawings are PE stamped and licensed as needed by project. Inventory units meet general specifications.

100% HSS-Free Design
The system uses angles and beams instead of HSS (hollow structural steel) to avoid common rust issues associated with certain HSS conditions.
Corner Connections
Modules connect at corners plus internal exhaust flanges. Approximately 12 exterior bolts per cube, designed for fast, predictable field assembly.
Zinc Coating
Plenum components are zinc coated for corrosion protection.
Coating System
- Preparation: SSPC-SP5, White Metal Blast Cleaning
- Primer: Galvapac zinc primer
- Topcoat: 2-component polysiloxane, applied to externally exposed portions as applicable
This structural steel coating system may also be presented as available for the industrial steel assembly offering.
System Features & Options
Optional exhaust integration, acoustic attenuation, backpressure, plenum bottom, turn vane, weather protection, genset interface, and warranty considerations.
Optional Exhaust
Optional exhaust can be included, preinstalled, flanged, and integrated with the plenum cube. The exhaust system comes from a supplier RoXteel partners with. RoXteel does not manufacture exhaust systems and does not install customer-supplied exhaust into its standardized system.
Acoustic Attenuation
With optional insulation, the wall assembly may reduce sound transmission from low-frequency sources such as diesel engines by approximately 25 dB. This is not a guaranteed site result, actual attenuation depends on generator, source, site, configuration, and conditions. Preferred wording: acoustic attenuation to support noise compliance.
Backpressure
RoXteel does not claim quantified backpressure reduction. The team believes the plenum should not adversely affect radiator fan backpressure, but supporting test data is not yet available.
Plenum Bottom
Standard plenum bottom is open to concrete. No bar grating as standard. The tower sits slightly above concrete so water can drain.
Optional Turn Vane
Optional turn vane directs radiator discharge air upward into the plenum. With the optional turn vane, drain holes move water to the concrete below; the vane sits below the radiator opening and includes a lip intended to prevent water from feeding back toward the radiator.
Weather Protection
- · Bird screen
- · Weather head
Genset Interface
The genset enclosure includes a radiator discharge bump-out that insets into the plenum. RoXteel uses angle flashing kits to seal the interface.
Warranty
Current information indicates the RoXteel plenum does not affect genset warranties. Approval concerns may need review in unusual cases involving very oversized radiator openings (approximately wider than 12 feet).
PE Stamped Drawings
Drawings are PE stamped and licensed as needed by project. Inventory units meet general specifications.
