Product Design & Value Engineering

Product Design & Value Engineering

RoXteel combines a focused internal Product Design function with a broader bench of experienced technical and project resources when the project benefits from them.

Led by Real Manufacturing Experience

Jacob Marx, Product Design Manager.

Approximately eight years of progression from welder and CNC operator to shop foreman / supervisor before stepping into Product Design, grounding design decisions in production-floor reality.

Jacob leads a focused internal team: one coordinator and one drawing-review resource. RoXteel also uses outside resources, engineering sources, 3D modelers, and drafters, when the project benefits from them.

The Value Engineering Process

We start by understanding where you are and where you want to be. Then our Product Design team maps the path, and we walk you through it together.

01

Solution Call

Understand the customer's goals, existing solution, problems, bottlenecks, ideal outcome, and what 'perfect' would look like. RoXteel can then share what may be possible.

02

Product Design Review

Business Development passes data, goals, drawings, and requirements to Product Design. Product Design maps solutions, problem-solves, reviews constructability and value opportunities, and aligns the expected solution with cost considerations.

03

Design Collaboration & Refinement

Used when needed. One or more working sessions with the customer, Product Design, and relevant RoXteel team members to answer questions and refine the direction.

04

Proposal & Solutions Presentation

Business Development compiles the solution and reviews the proposal live with the customer. Product Design participates where useful.

What Value Engineering Targets

The strongest current proof is the plenum, an over-engineered approach evolved into a lighter, standardized, modular, self-supported, repeatable system.

Lower costLower weightShorter lead timeFewer partsImproved manufacturabilitySimpler build processSimplified shippingReduced shipping expenseSimpler installationReduced field laborReduced crane useReduced site expenseBetter repeatabilityStandardizationImproved constructability

RoXteel does not claim the exact same savings will automatically occur in every industry. Hard dollar figures will be added as they are supplied.

The Plenum as Proof

The organization took an over-engineered plenum approach and evolved it into a lighter, standardized, modular, self-supported, repeatable, shippable, faster-erecting system. That reduced or targeted reductions in build time, cost, shipping cost, crane requirements, field labor, and site complexity. The plenum proves the value-engineering method.
