Selective Catalytic Reduction

What Is an SCR?

SCR, or Selective Catalytic Reduction, is an exhaust aftertreatment system used to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from diesel generators. In an SCR system, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) is injected into the exhaust stream ahead of a catalyst, where it reacts to convert NOx into nitrogen and water. Large data center gensets may require SCR to meet local air permit and emissions requirements, so SCR emissions control has become a growing consideration for mission-critical standby power.

This section explains the equipment RoXteel’s structure supports. RoXteel does not manufacture the SCR itself.

The SCR Needs Its Own Structure

  • SCR equipment is large and heavy.
  • It may sit above or alongside the genset.
  • The structure must safely carry the load.
  • It must fit around the generator and enclosure.
  • It must maintain a workable generator yard.
Self Supported

The SCR straddle frame carries the load independently, never relying on the genset enclosure.

Built Around the Yard

The structure fits around the generator, enclosure, and site constraints while keeping the yard workable.

New Build or Retrofit

New Build

Designed into the generator yard from the beginning alongside gensets, enclosures, plenums and related systems.

Retrofit

Designed around existing generators, enclosures and site constraints so SCR support can be added to operating or already constructed generator yards.

The Structure Behind the SCR

RoXteel designs and manufactures the structural steel system supporting the SCR.

SCR Straddle Frames

Self supported structural frames spanning the genset.

Rail Systems

Structural support configurations engineered around equipment and yard geometry.

Structural Engineering

Designed for applicable IBC and ASCE 7 loading requirements.

Manufacturing & Delivery

Repeatable fabrication, coordinated project schedules and RoXteel project management.

RoXteel does not manufacture, certify or provide the SCR emissions equipment itself.

Built on Proven Straddle Frame Experience

This capability connects directly to RoXteel’s existing generator infrastructure experience.

  • Modular plenum straddle bases
  • Self supported structures
  • Coordination with exhaust systems
  • Repeatable manufacturing
  • Project specific engineering
  • Nationwide project support

RoXteel has experience coordinating plenum structures with preinstalled exhaust systems and understands how exhaust equipment integrates into the generator yard. RoXteel does not manufacture exhaust systems.

RoXteel is ready to work alongside SCR manufacturers and integrators as a Solution Partner.
